Hydroxysomes® Adenosine

Adenosine is found throughout the body controlling a number of essential processes. In the skin, it has the ability to stimulate fibroblasts, which promotes collagen and elastin regeneration. Adenosine is believed to be an effective anti- inflammatory agent. International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) recognizes adenosine as an effective skin conditioner.

The skin has unique chemical and structural properties that enable it to maintain hydration, to regenerate and flex with body development and function. These properties are due to an underlying flexible dermis, epidermis and its outer layer, the stratum corneum.

As skin ages or is damaged by many factors such as UV light, the collagen and the elastin which are the structural proteins of the dermis, are substantially depleted, requiring anti-aging intervention, such as adenosine. For adenosine to be effective, it must be delivered to the dermis.
